    A well-known seafood market where you can eat and buy fresh local marine products. It is also a very popular spot to visit among foreign tourists.

    Yuasa Soy Sauce Factory
    Yuasa is the birthplace of Japanese soy sauce. It is a byproduct that brought back from China by Zen Monk during the13th century. Japanese soy sauce is by brewing out of the liquid that accumulated in miso tub.
     
    Drive past Engetsu Island, a symbol of Shirahama. A small island floating in the southern- ocean off the coast with a circular hole in the middle, formed by erosion caused by wind and wave thus earning its name “Engetsuto” (Full moon island).

    Sandanbeki Cliff
    A spectacular cliffs that stretching across 2 km and standing at heights of 50 – 60m in Shirahama. 

    Senjojiki
    It is named after its structure that looks like thousands stacked mats. Senjojiki is a tiered rock formation that has been eroded by the stormy seas.

    Taiji Kujirahama Park
    A large complex that includes of whale museum with various whale-related displays and whale hunting boat museum. A rich treasure house of marine life can also be found here.
     
    Kumano Nachi Taisha
    One of the three Kumano shrines, where vermilion halls rise beside Japan’s tallest waterfall, a sacred site for peace and good fortune, and part of the UNESCO World Heritage “Sacred Sites in the Kii Mountains.”

    Nachi Falls
    Japan’s tallest waterfall. The water falling through primeval forest looks divine; it seems that there is gods stay here.

    Katsuura Onsen
    A representative hot spring spot in Wakayama, known for its multiple onsens quality and natural hot spring cave.
