Wisteria, also spelled wistaria, usually woody vines of the pea family. Wisterias are mostly native to Asia and North America but are widely cultivated in other regions for their attractive growth habit and beautiful profuse flowers.
However, this vine is a fast and aggressive grower—often reaching 30+ feet long—and is known to grow quite heavy. Inadequate espalier planning or poor maintenance can cause considerable building damage.
