    The only seal conservation facility in Japan. It breeds various seals living in the Okhotsk Sea and also treats injured seals to help them return to the sea.
     
    The Sounkyo-Kurodake Ropeway ★
    Ascend from Hot Spring Street to Mt. Kurodake’s fifth station at an elevation of 1,984 meters. A scenic journey that allows passengers to admire natural beauty along the way.
     
    Sounkyo Gorge
    A ravine flanked by 150m-high sheer cliffs lined with column-like joints. Visit the famed Milky Way Waterfall (120m high) and the Shooting Stars Waterfall (90m high).
